On May 06, 2020 at 5:00 PM we were pleased to present a COVID-19 information session webinar with Dr.Jerry Teitel. In the session Dr.Teitel, Medical Director for the St.Michael’s Hospital Hemophilia Treatment Centre, presented the most up to date information about COVID-19 and bleeding disorders as of May 06, 2020. The webinar is broken into 3 parts: Dr.Teitel’s presentation, a pre-prepared question period, and a live interactive question and answer period. We recorded the live session and are pleased to be able to make it available to you on the Hemophilia Ontario website and YouTube channel.
Health Charities Call For Relief
Health Charities call for relief as they support vulnerable Ontarians through COVID-19

Health charities in Ontario are calling on the provincial government for immediate relief & long-term aid as they continue to support vulnerable populations through the COVID-19 pandemic & beyond. A group of over fifteen leading health charities, led by the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke, The Canadian Lung Association and Diabetes Canada, sent a letter to Christine Elliott, Minister of Health, asking for support. The letter outlined what is required for health charities to survive as the demand for their support services, education and resources continues to grow while fundraising dollars dwindle due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Please take 1-3 minutes to read the article and the Health Charity Support letter. Thank you!
Happy National Nurses Week!

#GivingTuesdayNow Campaign

#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 – in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday – as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
At Hemophilia Ontario we’re committed to participating and also giving back to a community in need. If you are able to contribute, donations made to Hemophilia Ontario between now and May 5th will be shared with the Canadian Women’s Foundation, with 50% going to the Tireless Together Fund, to support women and girls most impacted by COVID-19.
To donate, visit www.hemophilia.on.ca/donations & select “Giving Tuesday Now” from the designation options.
Unable to donate financially? Read about the Tireless Together Fund to find a creative way to show your support.
We may need to practice physical distancing, but that does not mean we can’t stay connected through kindness & generosity❤️

World Hemophilia Day 2020 Recap
World Hemophilia Day is an international awareness day for Hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. It is celebrated on April 17 each year, which was the birthday of Frank Schnabel, the founder of the World Federation of Hemophilia.
World Hemophilia Day on April 17, 2020 brought some heartwarming photos and stories from families and members of Hemophilia Ontario of their experience living with inherited bleeding disorders. Some members even had their workplace get involved and support World Hemophilia Day!

#AllinRed
Everyone at Hemophilia Ontario is proud to be part of the bleeding disorder community and we are honoured to share in your experiences!

Be sure to check out how to become a member of Hemophilia Ontario and join our supportive community of people impacted by bleeding disorders.
