Financial Assistance
Financial Assistance: Available to Hemophilia Ontario Members
Financial assistance is available to Hemophilia Ontario members who demonstrate need with expenses incurred in the care, treatment, or prevention of a bleeding disorder. Requests must demonstrate they are directly related to a bleeding disorder and care has been provided in relation to the bleeding disorder. They may require support from the applicant’s HTC team in some cases. Requests for parking can be requested through the HTC or Hemophilia Ontario in some cases. Clinics receive a set amount of funding from Hemophilia Ontario per year to cover these costs.
Hemophilia Ontario may consider reimbursing expenses that have already been incurred, provided they are requested in the same calendar year they have taken place in. Incurred expenses will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and will take longer to assess for a response. If you require a service that is not listed below, please submit your request and we will assess it on a case-by-case basis – please note, this is not guaranteed, and Hemophilia Ontario strongly encourages all members to investigate other social supports in addition to seeking direction from their clinic on additional funding options should they be struggling significantly. Assistance for multiple individuals in the home must be able to prove that each specific individual is being supported – you may be required to provide support for this, depending on the nature of the request. You will be contacted within 2 business days to assess your request, however determinations to be made may take longer than this.

- Groceries
- Insurance premiums
- Rent
- Phone bills, internet bills, or anything of this nature
- Household appliances and furniture
- Recreational Electronics of any nature
While the above list suggests items we do not provide coverage for on a regular basis, individuals may still submit request forms for these things, as long as they are able to provide proof or supportive documentation from their HTC team that these things will impact their quality of life with regards to living with a bleeding disorder, and that the individual has exhausted other funding options. Please note, these applications are still not guaranteed, however they will be assessed for the impact on the individual requesting support.
Please also keep in mind that Hemophilia Ontario may also try and organize other supportive options, such as community fundraisers for individuals requiring items listed above and help to support the individual through donations from the community – this is not guaranteed, however.
Finally, as much as we wish we could support every request and provide unlimited support to members, with the increased rate of members and financial assistance requests, we have to recognize our capacity to help as a small charity that does not have access to as much funding as larger organizations may have. We ask that this is respected, and for members to know that any decisions made on a case-by-case basis, are made with extreme compassion and thoughtfulness.
