Following a successful vote by our Board of Directors, the motion to change our name from Hemophilia Ontario to Bleeding Disorders Ontario was brought to our community at our recent AGM and it passed. We are so grateful to everyone who participated and made their voice heard.
This name change reflects the full scope of the community we serve. Bleeding disorders extend well beyond hemophilia, and our new name ensures that everyone living with a bleeding disorder sees themselves in our organization.
That said, change of this magnitude takes time. Updating our legal registration, government charity filings, website domain, email addresses, branding, and all supporting materials is a significant undertaking. As a result, the official transition to Bleeding Disorders Ontario will likely take several months, and may extend into 2027. In the meantime, we will continue to operate as Hemophilia Ontario.
We will keep you informed every step of the way as we work through this transition. Thank you for your continued support and for being part of this important moment in our organization’s history.
Sincerely,
Debra Thomson, Executive Director
