The Canadian Hemophilia Society has announced an important evolution: a new national name—Bleeding Disorders Canada. This change reflects the growth and diversity of the bleeding disorders community and aims to ensure that everyone living with inherited bleeding disorders sees themselves represented. The mission and vision remain unchanged, with continued focus on advocacy, safety, comprehensive care, and research.
The organization emphasizes that this is more than a name change—it is a community‑driven shift that honours decades of advocacy while recognizing the broader range of people they now serve, including those with von Willebrand disease, rare factor deficiencies, platelet function disorders, and women and girls who remain underdiagnosed. Provincial chapters will now review how they may align with the new national identity.
More details about the official launch will be shared in the coming months.
