ATTENTION ALL THE BOOK CLUB LOVERS! LAUNCHING IN JANUARY 2024!!
Hemophilia Ontario is launching a book club for the age group of 50+! If you are 50 or over and would like to join, please email Natalie Philbert at nphilbert@hemophilia.on.ca.
This book club will accept the first 8 people to contact Natalie, as for the first group we would like to keep it manageable.
Once there are 8 people registered, we will have a zoom meeting to organize some key details including:
If there is a lot of interest, we can consider opening up an additional group. Also, if you are under the age of 50 and would like to be a part of a book club, let Natalie know and we can pursue that idea.

After Mike and Elizabeth presented on their experiences with Gene Therapy at our Annual General Meeting/Community Camp Weekend in May, a lot of really great conversation was sparked. We also know this is and has been a topic of interest for many members of our community, even just those who are curious. We wanted to continue to share their story and a space for that conversation to continue, so that ignites a sense of hope for the future of those living with bleeding disorders. It may not all be figured out, but slowly steps are being taken to get there.
So, for those of you who are interested in learning more about Mike’s experience and how his life with Elizabeth has been shaped before and after receiving gene therapy, please register to attend this exciting webinar!
The TCOR region of Hemophilia Ontario is lucky to be one of the 55 charities that run bingo sessions at the Delta Downsview bingo hall at 1868 Wilson Avenue in Toronto. We have a dedicated group of volunteers who have been running our bingo sessions for many years, most have been volunteering for more than 10 years! Our hall is now operating with the electronic bingo model, with this switch the responsibility for the volunteers has changed dramatically. Our bingo volunteers now are only required to be at the hall for 2 hours and they no longer handle cash or sell bingo cards. We are looking for some new volunteers to help our bingo crew! If you can give us 2 hours per month to volunteer at our bingo session we would be grateful! The bingo hall volunteers will be working in the hall providing customer service and representing Hemophilia Ontario. Our bingo session is held on Saturday morning 10:00 am to noon. An online training session must be completed before attending.
The hard work of our bingo volunteers let’s us support the following programs:
Camp Wanakita registration Fees
Camp Wanakita Nursing coverage
Hospital parking and transportation
Dental work
Orthotics
Medic Alert bracelets
If you are interested in volunteering or you have some questions, please contact Susan Turner, Coordinator of Events & Administration at sturner@hemophilia.on.ca or 416-972-0641.
Hemophilia Member Survey
If you are a member of our Thunder Bay community, please take the time to look over and respond to this survey! Over the last year, Hemophilia Ontario has worked to rebuild our presence in our northern communities and really want to maintain the momentum.
We want to be able to engage with our communities in the North in a variety of ways, whether this is through recruiting volunteers, or through understanding what kinds of gatherings and events you’d like to see in your region.
This survey will allow us to plan and effectively execute this objective, and we look forward to receiving responses as they come in.
If you are not directly living in Thunder Bay, but have interacted with us during the Northern clinic visits, or live in the North in general, please still feel free to submit a response – although we will most likely coordinate an event for our Thunder Bay region first, we will be expanding our range, provided there is a need in our other communities.
The survey will likely take 5-10 minutes to complete, and we appreciate your feedback and time!
