Limited Home Delivery of Product to Patients at high risk of COVID-19
Approved by Ontario Ministry of Health
Please be aware that the Ontario Ministry of Health has approved temporary home delivery of product to people with inherited bleeding disorders at highest risk of COVID-19 infection. The following criteria outlined by the Ministry of Health will determine if you are eligible:
- If you are on home treatment
- Do not have someone to pick up product from the hospital for you
- If you suffer from immune deficiency (such as in the case of some who are affected by HIV/AIDS)
- Are 65 years of age or older
- Have underlying conditions preventing you from using public transportation or going to hospital transfusion services to pick up product.
While we are disappointed with the limited eligibility criteria announced by the Ministry of Health, we are happy that some of our most vulnerable members may no longer be unnecessarily exposed to the higher risk of COVID-19 infection at hospitals.
Hemophilia Ontario will be updating you on this important development as new information becomes available. If the information above applies to you we encourage you to reach out to your Hemophilia Treatment Centre with any questions. If you have any questions for us you can reach out to Bojan Pirnat at bpirnat@hemophilia.on.ca.
